Early Christmas Planning
Today we enter the second half of 2008, and there are exactly 177 days left until Christmas.
Yes, it’s the high point of summer for many of us. It’s sizzling outside, and all we can think about right now is staying cool. Images of back yard barbecues, outdoor concerts, or splashing in waves on the beach may be taking up residence in our minds right now but, this is the also the perfect time to take a pause, and start planning for the Holidays.
This year in particular, families will need a lot of advance planning. With the economy the way it is, people all around the world may find it difficult this year to celebrate the Holidays in the way we have been used to. The price of almost every imaginable good has gone up considerably so, it’s safe to predict that this coming Holiday season will be very stressful for many familes but , with a little advance planning, we can still have a great Christmas.
So my friends, I urge you to start planning for Christmas now. Take advantage of store sales. Start stocking up on all the items you’ll be needing for this year’s Christmas celebration. Your wallet will feel the impact a lot less if you start shopping for Holiday items little by little.
For example, if you are one of those people who do a lot of baking for the Holidays, why not start picking up your ingredients, and storing them away? Things like butter (keep frozen until ready to use). flour, spices, sugar, canned milk are non perishable, and you can start buying them from now when they are on sale.
This is also the time to start thinking about your gift list. In the US, stores will be having huge sales this 4th. of July weekend, this is a good time to pick up a few sale items to give as Christmas gifts.
Yes, the economy is bad, and we’re all feeling the bite. Whether at the pump, or at the grocery store, the high cost of consumer goods are making a big dent in our finances, and things may be getting worse before improving. So, safeguard your Christmas. With a little planning, and advance preparation, we can all have a very merry, and enjoyable 2008 Holiday season.
